We learned this from our client Capital One…
Most of us at brian cork Human Capital average over 100 emails a day. Email does not have to be out of control.
Companies and individuals can reduce email strain by writing better messages. It turns out that stronger subject lines help recipients better understand why they received an email and make it easier to search for in the future. Instead of “Here’s what you asked for” as a heading, try specifics such as “Delivery: 2008 staffing model for small-business unit.”
Sculpting the body text matters, too. For example, using bullet points and underlining or bolding text makes messages more clear and concise.
Capital One estimates that it saves the equivalent of 11 workdays per employee per year using this email delivery process.
